Super Moon Dazzles Star Gazers

Stellar sky gazers enjoyed a special treat last night as the moon appeared over the horizon. The full moon was closer to the Earth than usual making it appear bigger in our sky. We asked for photos and fans posted amazing pictures from around the world. In case you missed it you still have a chance to see two more super moons this Summer, one on Aug. 10 and another on Sept. 9.

A New Moon Discovered Around Neptune

In the summer of 1989, a robotic emissary from Earth visited the farthest major planet from the Sun, Neptune. Like any good tourist, NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft snapped a lot of pictures during the brief flyby. The prolific probe discovered several moons orbiting close to the blue-green planet. But one moon, no bigger than a metropolitan city and nearly coal-black, escaped detection because it was too faint to be seen. Until now.
